August Pocus

Halfway through on this post, my 3 year old laptop has finally given up on me. The whole screen was flickering until it totally blacked out. Thanks Kay Seng for providing me an old school 17" CRT just to hang on for a few days before I get the PC in. Man, the nostalgia.

It was Claire's last day at Siemens. She just had to mock us people who are interning for 6 months. That satisfies her somehow haha. Kidding. Anyways, having people like these makes your day at work less boring when you always look forward to spend nonsensical time together at lunch, or hanging out at each other's pantry. Appreciate those cookies you made, it was really awesome, Ms. Awesome. Haha. Have fun when school starts!

The greatest, bestest, most powderful...Cheese Naan I've ever eaten.

8th August. The feeling was the same as last year, filled with excitement, anxiousness, and those awestrucked moments. 30 plus member had to kill their holidays to realise their dreams in competing in Rag 2009 despite not having many hopeful numbers of help. Amazingly, they still managed to pull it through against all odds.

Thankfully, I'm given a chance to be a part of the Float but a completely different role this year. 3 years of committee work, the last year for taking the dance stage. Although I had to go through the immense heat from Mr.Sunshine and blisters from grinding my feet against the grill-pan-alike-platform, the end product was worth all effort and time. If I would describe the pain, every single steps feels like grinding your feet on a cheese grater, that's heated up too.

Oh, the pain.

Congratulations to the team for winning the Least Cost Float Award. This may be a small title, but I believe that next year history can be made, more titles can be sweeped, so long the spirit and enthusiasm never fades away. It is time that you guys can get the rest you need after such a long period of sacrifice. Pray that all strained relationships would be healed and those precious memories that was created will be a greater reason for your existence in hall. Thank you for making me believe in achieving the impossible, again. Kudos, RH Float 2009. *Hails on his knees*

Now I really miss Rag. I still hold on deeply to the relationships I've built, both the old and the new-found ones. If not for it, Thomas would have been completely a different person today.

Year 1: Fire exntinguisher operator.
As I first entered the lower lounge,
met a bunch of lovely people and mind-blowing props were seen.
From then on,
I knew this is something I have to do the next year.

Year 2: Engineer.
Putting my mech engine knowledge to good use on the float itself.
Struggling through the ups and downs with my hallmates of barely 15. We made it through.

Year 3: Chair-ed a team of 20 odd members.
Striving to make a change on the perspective on Float,
on how it can make a difference to hall life.
Limitations was something that didn't hindered our dreams.
Embarked this painful journey,
just to inpire our incoming freshies,
and instill that burning passion for Hall.
We teared and lived up to that dream.

Year 4: Danced as a prominent role.
Enjoying the sight,
where new senior-junior bonds were created.
Spectating the creation of another amazing float,
a new breath of life for the hall.
I see a new beginning.

Job's done.

1 down, and two more shows to go. Then I'm good to go.

A new chapter awaits.
