Écouter

two of these days my time was spent watching concerts. feels great to take a breather from a spectator's perspective after performing countlessly for the past months.

yesterday was definitely a changing point in my dancing life, after watching "The Big Groove" with the rest of the blastards. you can tell which studio the crowd were from, especially when their homies are performing, clearly o'school and city harvest church were filling the whole expo.

cool mint from the land of the rising sun, kicked off the event with a breathtaking performance. definition of energy level, extension and charisma has been redefined. it amazes me that some of them are barely 14 years old from the looks of it. unfortunately, the standards set by them outshines the local groups like NRA, Trademark (former funka champs) and Floor Technique Crew(apparently better than the Fu-Yos) . Pink Dollars was entertaining with their witty personality as usual, albeit they were drawn back by the lack of synchronization. well, sometimes people have their bad days.

some were paying tribute to the king of pop, including Styles from Beyond who manage to awe the crowd by squeezing some effort to show respect for the man. banners are simple, but hey, endeavour counts. anticipation filled the air as danzpeople took the stage, grooving to the tunes of Tamia and Jesse McCartney. too much lyrical hiphop in my opinion, that it looses the ommph factor. thats just my humble pov. great item nonetheless.

all the while i find popping and locking boring due to the endless repitition of steps and choreography. but those from Poppers Action Party, Lion City Rockers, 5+5, Wrecking Crew Orchestra changed my opinion about that genre completely. the taiji master of popping from china baffled me with his intricate musicality and dance vocab. and their lockers never failed to amuse the house via locking with a touch of bruce lee in it. lol. they are so inspiring that now i'm eager to take up some popping lessons, which i can benefit from the muscle control techniques.

dancers across asia were congregated on this night, with united dance crew(can't really remember the name) from indonesia, funky ziggy from japan, taiwan with freak klownz. those hongkies' lyrical hiphop was simply lipsmacking. loved SD crew's superb harmony, and their unique fashion sense. making them stand out among the other items. oh oh, they reminded me of shaun evaristo too *hearts*. damn you himbo tommy. and and and, watching philippines all star showcasing their championship item in last year's world hiphop comp is a privilege. right, that's clearly an understatement. still can't believe i managed to watch it live, $28 is worth all that single bit.

In a dancer, there is a reverence for such forgotten things as the miracle of the small beautiful bones and their delicate strength. ~Martha Graham

never ever i would consider myself as a dancer, realising how amatuerish i am as compared to the others that night. i'd like to be a greenhorn for as long as possible. learning is a never ending process, aye? next up, dance classes are going to be my priority now, so that i can prep up myself for the suntec dance comp. as much as i can, i would wanna dance my heart and emotions out while i can still inhale. and dance like i never dance before. i really do.

hopefully i'll be given a chance to churn out an item before graduation, as thoughts and ideas came across my mind. there's so much we'd like to say, yet we're conformed by fear and consequences. when it's so difficult to exclaim what's on the mind, why not verbalise it with our body? it's the vagueness of the message that keeps us sheltered.
