Ready / Spread / Lift off

Woops, its been weeks since there's a proper update.

*wipes the dusty ol' blog*

The last two weeks marks a couple of good and bad events. Shit appens' sometimes ain't it, but the good is always on the queue, fortunately for me.

My HR2002 paper was on the mediocre side. As much as I enjoyed the whole module and people, taking exams especially the written ones is not something I favour though. I'm not given the proficiency to write anyway *shrugs*. All in all, its a get-it-and-over-with paper lah. Didn't ended up to shabby I hope.

On the shit-tier side, Dong-zie the cousin celebrated the 22nd last Thursday. This 2 month old italian bistro has a good balance between drinks, food and most of all, music. Kevin and me were totally distracted when Victoria's Secrets aired on TV inside the bistro. We're guys after all, Haha.  The buffet that only consists of appetizers is free upon ordering a cocktail. If that's what you were thinking, you are precisely correct.

Being a cheapo Singaporean/Malaysian (okay I can sense the curse coming from Varun and Vincent), after I ordered my Black Russian, 8 of us had appetizers for dinner. As shameful as it is, we decided to order a pizza so that we don't look that cheapskate. Then again, its only one pizza. *blushes*

This place is located at Raffles City by the way. Head down Sapore Italiano should you wanna enjoy a good array of food. Oh, and the gelatos are quite decent too. Still, I'm wondering how black squid ink pizza taste like. Restrospectively, I didn't like sucking the pen from the wrong side back when I was in primary school.

Right. So how does that makes it shitty for me then? This clumsy uncle-tommy was rushing towards 96 on that fine evening, and his dearly Creative Zen X-fi player flew out of his unzipped bag, landing on tar. Kelvin-the-neighbour got a call from me upon realising that it was gone after boarding the bus. Kelvin found, Kelvin checked, Kelvin said it was all good.

NOT until I tried loading a song couple o' days back. As the USB cable is plugged in, the backlight illuminated a series of cracks that resembles the half brother of a sphincter. This jaw-dropping, finger-licking, door-stopping, table-moving, earth-shattering, tiger-showering sight brought tears to my hamster, so as to me. Mabel (her actual name) was involved in a hit-and-run incident. I wish those bastards who ran over her will be brought to justice.

SITEX 2009 was held over the weekend. Is it coincidence, or is it pure fate?

I don't give a shit. Regardless of what, I needed a new player. Having no music on-the-go is like eating sushi with no wasabi. You get the point. To cut it short, I bought an iPod Touch 8gb + many many freebies at a price of $308. To this point, it has yet to disappoint me. Actually, I'm already starting to love Christy (her actual name, haha). Embracing the fact that its not only a music/video player, but a web browser / organizer that a usual PDA has. Mabel is just a slut crap, she doesn't deserve to live in this world. Okay I'm just kidding. Mabel was unique and hot in her own ways. The only thing that's left of her is the in-ear headphones that's plugged into my iPod. So there you have it, Creative headphones, Apple player. Getting the best of both worlds, like they say.

For now, lets observe a moment of silence for Mabel who left the world too soon. Your joyful and noisy spirit will live among us, and may you rest in peace while you're up there. Say hi to Bill Gates for me.

On a lighter note, I manage to squeeze in time to partake in a flash mob held in Tempines area. Which means money money money to sustain my financial status after spending on my new player. White Hoods did a rendition of 'Smooth Criminal' which went pretty okay initially with the rest of the mobs. But hell broke loose when we didn't manage to switch to the stage on time. AND, to which the tech team thought the whole thing is done, the feller sub-consciously soften the song. So, we were like FFFFFFFFISH! You get the picture after that. However, we did managed to transit in though after being stunned for a couple o seconds.

Although things didn't turn out that well, I still love the fact that this event brought the people in WH closer. Especially when, everyone's complanin' about how badly they did haha.

Anyway that's $200. *ka-ching*

For the first time, I officially taught beginner's hiphop at a dance studio nearby King Albert's Park. To my utmost suprise, I mostly see students ranging from 5 years old to secondary school level, hardly any adult. This makes me quite envious however, not being able to take such classes when I was younger. But hey, nothing is ever too late, right?

During the process, a couple of my students struggled in the choreo cos' a few of the steps has awkward lines while requiring a substantial amount of core power. To the 8-10 year old kids, thousand apologies. First time mah. At least from here I know their capabilities and I'll be able to make the necessary adjustment next time, if I do get another opportunity though. =)

The experience is really enriching. Teaching to your peers/hall people and teaching complete strangers is completely different. Sometimes, I myself worry that my teaching may not meet up to certain expectations, or I may overdo it that others can't catch up with it. I've come to a point that, being in that position requires lotsa lotsa patience, ability to convey your message and to note every single student's strengths and weaknesses. Ain't easy to pick all these attributes up, but hey, nothing comes to you with a snap.

$50. *ka-ching*

At least I don't feel so broke after purchasing the iPod. *exhales*
